I want to share with you this simple DIY gift that you can make for anyone special in your life. I made it with Mother’s Day in mind, but it can be given to any loved one at any time!
You can also check out my newest Mother’s Day frame gift here!
I modified this idea from a teacher who used to do this with her students for Mother’s Day. Fill this mason jar with compliments so that any time mom needs a pick-me-up, she can pick something out of this jar and know that she is loved. You can also fill this jar with more of mom’s favorites like gift cards, small treats, DIY coupons, photos, etc.
To make this Sunshine in a Jar you will need:
- A mason jar
- Yellow ribbon and/or twine to tie on the the label
- Sunshine In a Jar Label mounted on cute 3×3 paper. I used double stick tape for clean mounting. If you would like me to personalize the label send me an email.
- Strips of 1×6 yellow paper and a fine tip sharpie to write compliments or wonderful thoughts! I then twirled my paper around my thin sharpie to give the paper a spiral look.
- A photo for the top of the lid. Measure the diameter of your lid so you know what size to print out on your computer. My diameter was 2.7 and I used the Afterlight app to easily create a picture within a circle. Use double stick tape to attach the photo to the top of the lid insert, and then seal the insert to the lid with a hot glue gun.
Voila! You’ve got a gift that is sure to make mom smile for days ahead!
